This is a focused massage style that is innately therapeutic. Deep tissue massage is designed to focus on very specific areas within an individual muscle. Such areas include points where scar tissue and muscular adhesions have built up, impairing the muscular function.
David uses his skilled palpation, anatomical knowledge, clinical experience and client feedback to identify very specific problem areas, and delivers very focused finger-tip, deep tissue. Although deep tissue is usually uncomfortable and even painful, David is careful to never cross the client’s pain threshold. He pays close attention to how the client’s muscles are reacting to the techniques and makes appropriate adjustments to the pressure, angle, and point of focus to minimize the discomfort and maximize the benefits for a client.
Every person reacts slightly differently to deep tissue massage. A person’s physiological reaction to deep tissue is not based solely on muscle mass; The condition of a muscle is a much more decisive factor. The reactions of a person’s muscle tissue will vary from muscle to muscle, and there will be big differences in muscular response depending on the areas of a specific muscle being worked. This is why it is important to not apply a standard set of techniques with deep tissue. David delivers a highly effective deep tissue massage by continually making adaptations to fundamental techniques. It is physically much more demanding for a deep tissue massage therapist, to apply appropriate pressure using his finger tips. However, the finger tips allow for much better accuracy than an elbow or inanimate tool. Not only can David focus on smaller areas with greater precision, but he can continually monitor for areas of scar tissue, adhesions, and excessive tension while paying attention for the all-important, telling, muscular reactions.
